Sanitiser Wipes: What You Need to Know

You would be forgiven for thinking that a sanitiser wipe has pretty obvious uses but there is a lot more to it. We have tried to answer some common questions and some things to consider when purchasing your sanitiser wipes.

The Sanitising Wipe Container

There are a lot of sanitising wipes available on the market at the moment with varying levels of alcohol and construction included. The dispenser container is almost as important as the wipes themselves because you do not want to take one out and then the others dry out before you have a chance to use them.

Containers with a full-size lid and a lot of air trapped in an oversized container allow the alcohol and ethanol to evaporate quickly reducing the effectiveness of the wipes themselves. Always look for containers which only allow one wipe at a time that is easily made airtight after extraction.

What Do Alcohol Wipes Contain

Our alcohol Sanitising Wipes are impregnated with 80% alcohol which is ideal for killing most bacteria and viruses on hard surfaces. These non-woven wipes are impregnated provide a sterile cleaning wipe, for high-level medical disinfection.

Suitable for use on all hard surfaces, except clear plastic, where a rapid sanitising is required.

Perfect for many working environments including offices, schools and the industrial sector.

Are Alcohol Wipes Effective?

Yes, the alcohol wipes have passed both BSEN1500 and BSEN1276, so they are suitable for protection against viruses and bacteria, including COVID-19.

Why Use Alcohol Sanitising Wipes?

They are a simple and convenient way of sterilizing a surface or work area. The box keeps the wipes moist and prevents the alcohol evaporating reducing wastage.

Are Alcohol Wipes the Same as Antiseptic wipes?

In a nutshell no, they are both designed for very different uses:

Antiseptic Wipes are sting-free and can be used to cleanse a cut prior to administering other applications such as an ointment or bandage.

Alcohol Wipes are ideal for cleaning surrounding areas of the injury to prevent any spread of bacteria but are not to be applied to the wound itself as it will sting.

NOTE: Using Alcohol to disinfect a wound can increase the chances of permanent scarring.

Can I Clean My Phone with Sanitising Wipes?

Your phone probably carries more bacteria than you might think and clean your phn=one is now imperative but using alcohol wipes is not recommended. While cleaning the back and sides will be fine, stay away from cleaning the screen with alcohol-based disinfectant.

Why? Well, because the glass on your phone is coated with an oleophobic coating which is designed to minimize fingerprint smudges. It does, however, wear down over time so if the phone is older then feel free but ensure the liquid doesn’t leak into the casing!

Remember to take your third party cover off and clean the interior regularly as this will also have a build-up of dust and particles.
